Colorado is a state in the western United States. Colorado known as the highest peaks of the Rocky mountains which dominate the western part of this state; most of eastern Colorado is a plateau. State capital and largest city is Denver, Colorado; Denver metropolitan area contains half of the state’s population (2.5 million and 4.3 million). This state’s name is taken from the Spanish “Colorado” which means “reddish colored” that may point to the red sandstone in the area or reddish brown color of the Colorado River.
