Ski train
The ski train is not, strictly speaking an antique rail line. In 1940 it’s original purpose was to ferry skiers to winter park, nearly 60 miles from Denver’s historic Union Station. The Train still accomplishes this goal today. That does not negate the fact that the train offers some of the most spectacular views of the front Range and beyond from its historic cars, view that can’t be seen from any roads. This route offers 31 tunnels ranging from 78 feet in length to the 6.2 miles of the moffat Tunnel. At times traveling more than 1,000 feet over valery floors, the route countains hairpin turns that afford great views of the continental Divide.
